Dart Foundation Grant to benefit Allen Cancer Center at Nanticoke
The Nanticoke Health Foundation has received a grant supporting the Allen Cancer Center at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in the amount of $40,000 from the Dart Foundation. The Dart Foundation is a private family foundation established by Dart Container Corporation founder William A. Dart and his wife Claire T. Dart. The Foundation supports projects that enhance education, especially in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math, and those that improve the quality of life in specific communities.
This grant will support the cancer center’s expansion project which includes the infusion area, an on-site pharmacy, and lab testing. The Infusion Center will expand from the current eight 8 to 12 infusion bays with design to increase to 15 in the future. The Infusion Center will also include 3 private treatment rooms. A new oncology pharmacist will be on-site as part of a pharmacy hood for the preparation of chemotherapy dosages and supporting medications. The renovation project will also include on-site laboratory services, reducing the need for patients to travel to off-site facilities for require blood work monitoring and testing.
“The Dart Foundation is pleased to award this grant to Nanticoke Health Foundation,” said Emily L. Matthews, Dart Foundation Manager. “The health and well-being of the community is vitally important and it’s crucial that the Allen Cancer Center has the space and resources they need to serve their region.”
Nanticoke would like to thank the Dart Foundation for supporting the health of our community. This grant will directly impact the quality of care that is provided and depended on by our families, friends, and the communities we serve at the Allen Cancer Care Center at Nanticoke.
