Dart Foundation awards Norco College $95,000
Norco, CA – The Norco College Manufacturing Technology program was awarded a $95,000 grant from the Dart Foundation to purchase a new Y-Axis Computer Numerical Control lathe for the Advanced Manufacturing Lab.
The Lab is utilized by more than 800 students each academic year. The new equipment will provide students with access to industry standard equipment. This will ensure they are fully prepared to operate current technology and enter the workforce.
“We are grateful to the Dart Foundation for their proactive outreach and interest in partnering with Norco College,” said RCCD Foundation Director Launa Wilson. “This grant will enable the College to replace a severely outdated piece of equipment, and in doing so, enhance the learning experience for hundreds of manufacturing technology students each year.”
The Manufacturing Technology program provides students the necessary skills and knowledge to compete for highly skilled and well-paying jobs in the manufacturing industry. Students who major in manufacturing technology can pursue a career in one of the following industries: semiconductor manufacturing, general purpose machinery manufacturing, architectural and structural metals
manufacturing, printing and related support, and medical equipment and supplies manufacturing.
Many program graduates have been hired by local manufacturing facilities, such as Brenner Fiedler, Fender Guitars, Lollicup USA, and other companies throughout the Inland Empire.
The Dart Foundation is a private family foundation established by Dart Container Corporation founder William A. Dart and his wife Claire T. Dart. The Foundation supports projects that enhance education, especially in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math, and those that improve the quality of life in specific communities.
