Dart Grant on Target to Help Stroke Patients
Sparrow Health System Annual Report
A $500,000 grant from the Dart Foundation will support Sparrow Hospital's new stroke center. The facility will be named the William and Claire Dart Stroke Center, in honor of the charitable organization's founders.
Over the past decade, the Dart Foundation has contributed to several Sparrow projects. Past grants have supported the Bike for Tykes through Children's Miracle Network, pediatric rehabilitation, Pediatric Ambulatory Care Center, Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, and the new Pediatric Emergency Room.
"The William and Claire Dart Stroke Center will provide timely, state-of-the-art services to stroke patients throughout mid-Michigan," said Jim Lammers, vice president of the Dart Foundation. "The center's doctors and nurses will save lives and assist stroke patients in their recovery. The high quality medical services provided by Sparrow Hospital are essential to the long-term health of area residents and the local economy as well as one of the primary reasons why mid-Michigan is such a great place to live."
Sparrow Hospital, and its Neurological Centers of Excellence, serves as mid-Michigan's only designated stroke center for one million people in nine counties. The hospital recently hired three highly respected neurologists. These stroke specialists not only treat patients, but are conducting important research as well. |
